The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball
Cartoondom’s most mischievous blue cat and his hilariously bizarre universe are back! Cartoon Network International has unveiled a teaser video and logo for The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, a follow-up to the BAFTA Children’s, International Emmy, and Annie Award-winning series The Amazing World of Gumball. Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe produces the new series, which will premiere later this year on Cartoon Network worldwide channels, Hulu in the United States, and HBO Max outside of the United States.
The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, created and executive produced by Ben Bocquelet, is a quarter-hour animated comedy series that combines an eclectic mix of media styles — including 2D and 3D animation, CGI, puppetry, photorealism, and live action — to create a wildly imaginative world defined by its vibrant visual style and sharp meta humor.
Matt Layzell and Erik Fountain are executive producers and series directors. Xav Clarke composed the series, and Joe Sparrow served as art director.
“What an amazing opportunity to play with these characters again!” Bocquelet, Layzell, and Fountain were enthusiastic. “Fans can look forward to plenty more antics and misadventures in Elmore because Gumball and Darwin haven’t grown up much since we last saw them … we haven’t either.”
The voice cast includes Alkaio Thiele as Gumball, Hero Hunter as Darwin, Kinza Syed Khan as Anais, Teresa Gallagher as Nicole, Dan Russell as Richard, and many others.
Vanessa Brookman, General Manager of International Kids, Animation & Franchise at Warner Bros. Discover, stated, “We felt it was about time that Gumball and the rest of the gang woke up from their catnap, to do what they do best and delight more fans with distinctive humor, visual inventiveness, and wild adventures.” “The new series continues Gumball’s legacy as one of the most iconic, groundbreaking, and beloved Cartoon Network shows of all time, guided by the immense talents of Ben, Matt, Erik, and team.”
