For Renia Bigham, the spark was ignited between cashier counters, long hours, and the weight of feeling unseen. From Cash Register to Conscious Coaching
Renia’s professional journey began at an independent pharmacy where she worked as a cashier and pharmacy technician. From there, she took on roles as a hostess, customer service representative, assistant manager, manager, and team lead. “I worked all these jobs giving my time and energy while not feeling appreciated for the work I did,” she recalls.
These experiences, no doubt, exhausted her, but they became the foundation of her resilience. They taught her that recognition does not define the value of her work. And also, her work’s worth does not diminish if the recognition is not coming from external sources. These jobs shaped her patience and sharpened her clarity about what she really wanted from life, just like a sculptor chiseling at stone to carve a masterpiece.
After the birth of her youngest child, Renia decided to pursue higher education. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology with the dream of becoming a counselor. But life, as it often does, had different plans. Unforeseen challenges with her academic path redirected her journey, but instead of surrendering, she reinvented herself. She went back to school to become a certified Life Coach, a decision that changed her future as well as the lives of countless others.
A Calling That Chose Her
Renia’s choice to step into coaching wasn’t born out of mere career ambition. It was a calling that had always been whispering in her ear. From childhood, she had been the person others looked up to for a solution to their problems. Friends, colleagues, and even strangers at gas stations or stores seemed to find solace in her presence. She has a god-gifted ability to listen ‘free of judgment’ and a heart that has space for others’ truths.
“I always knew I was meant to help people. I just didn’t know how that looked until I got older,” she reflects.
In addition to helping others, her inspiration was also deeply personal. Through her personal self-discovery, Renia experienced what it meant to strip away the layers of societal expectations and reclaim herself.
“When I started learning about who I really am, not just what others or society said I am, but who I am. I found and took my power back,” she shares with conviction. “That started with learning to love myself, all parts of me, the good, the bad, the indifferent. No one can take that from me.”
Just like a mirror polished over time, her journey of self-love became the reflection she now holds up for others, guiding them to see their light.
Conscious Empowerment: A Mission with Soul
In 2021, Renia established Conscious Empowerment Coaching, LLC with a mission as clear as the sunlight breaking through the clouds: ‘To guide individuals in discovering who they truly are and reclaiming their power.’
Authenticity and self-acceptance are her philosophy. She doesn’t see herself as a savior but rather as a guide. “I am not here to save anyone,” she asserts. “I am here to help you save yourself. That starts with learning who you are.”
Her vision challenges deeply ingrained societal programming. From parents to peers, society often runs our lives before we even discover our voices. Renia’s coaching is about rewriting those scripts. She describes it like: “You can’t help others if you aren’t helping and taking care of yourself. If your cup is half empty, you’re depleted. Just like they tell you on a plane, put on your oxygen mask first before helping others.”
Discovery and liberation play an equal role in her client’s journey. Renia helps them learn boundaries, self-respect, and most importantly, understanding that empowerment begins within.
Breaking Barriers as a Woman in Business
Hurdles become the part and parcel of a woman’s entrepreneurial journey. Renia also faced hurdles, the greatest of which was financial. In a field as unique as life coaching, resources like scholarships, grants, or investors are often scarce. Also, she did not want to bear the burden of debt, so she decided to take on additional work as a ‘Community Support Worker’ to fund her business dreams. Despite limited resources, she nurtured her vision until it could take root, just like a gardener planting seeds during drought.

Conscious Empowerment Coaching addresses a universal problem: the disconnection between who we are and who we are told to be. Many of her clients come to her carrying the weight of other people’s, parents’, society, employers, or partners’ perceptions about them. They have been living in molds that they have not chosen, and in doing so, they have lost touch with themselves.
Renia helps them get rid of these imposed identities, much like a snake shedding its old skin, and embrace their truest form. “We are not broken,” she emphasizes. “We’ve just been raised to believe we are what others say we are. When we finally learn, admit, and accept all parts of ourselves, that’s when those who think they hold power over us lose control.”

They don’t walk away with quick fixes, whereas they walk away with a lifelong toolkit for empowerment. “Those that work with me will find no judgment,” she assures. “Learning who you are isn’t easy. It means facing mistakes, choices, and deprogramming from beliefs that no longer serve you. But the reward is empowerment.”
