Prince William said that he wasn’t in a “calm state” when he went to the BAFTAs.
The Prince of Wales made his first public appearance since his uncle, the former Prince Andrew, was arrested on Thursday by walking the red carpet at the Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre with Kate Middleton.
The prince, who is the head of BAFTA, said that he “needed to be in a calm mood” in order to see the historical drama “Hamnet,” which was directed by Chloé Zhao, when asked if he had had the opportunity to see it.
“I must be in a really composed state, which I am not at the moment. He said to the Daily Mail, “I’ll keep it.”
However, the Princess of Wales scheduled time to watch the Shakespearean film the previous evening, which caused her to cry “floods of tears,” William remarked. “I actually thought it was a bad idea.” Kate regarded the film as a “presentation of intergenerational grief” and remarked, “I ended up with very puffy eyes.”
In addition, she said that the couple has “a long list of films that we still need to get through.”
The Princess of Wales made her first public appearance since former Prince Andrew’s arrest on Saturday when she went to a championship rugby match between England and Ireland at Twickenham, London.
Hours after being arrested on accusations of misconduct in public office, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was freed from police custody on February 19.
Because of his connections to the late Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019 while incarcerated in a Manhattan cell via apparent suicide, the erstwhile prince came under public investigation.
The former prince seemed to share reports of official trade visits with the disgraced financier, according to emails made public by the Department of Justice (DOJ) as part of the Epstein Files. According to one email, Andrew forwarded the material to Epstein five minutes after he got it.
The news of his brother’s imprisonment on accusations of misbehavior while in public office caused King Charles III to express his “deepest concern.”
“What comes next is the complete, equitable, and correct procedure that ensures this matter is looked into by the right people in the right way. They have our whole and utter support and cooperation in this, as I have stated previously,” the king said in a statement.”Let me state clearly: the law must take its course,” he stated. “It would not be appropriate for me to make any more comments on this topic while this process is still ongoing. My family and I will continue to fulfill our obligations to you all in the interim.”
On Thursday, the king launched London Fashion Week and attended to royal duties.
“During the visit, His Majesty toured exhibitions, including Brand63Africa and Stella McCartney, curated to highlight craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability within British fashion,” the palace was reported on X.
Andrew, who is eighth in line for the throne, may also be removed from the line of succession by the government. When he abdicated in 1936, Edward VIII became the final king to be removed from the line of succession. In his stead, Queen Elizabeth II’s father assumed the throne.
